Retaining Walls

On Middle Tennessee's hillsides, a retaining wall can turn a steep, unusable slope into a flat lawn, patio or garden. Done well, it also manages water, which is what causes most wall failures.

We build retaining walls for homeowners in Nashville and nearby using segmental block and natural stone, with a compacted base, drainage aggregate and perforated pipe behind and geogrid reinforcement where needed. Taller walls may require engineering and permits, and we tell you early.

FAQ

Common questions about retaining walls

Do retaining walls need a permit?

Taller walls often do, and some need engineering. We tell you what applies in your city.

Block or natural stone?

Block is economical and consistent. Natural stone has a richer look. Both can be built to last.

Why do walls fail?

Usually from water pressure and poor bases. Proper drainage and compaction prevent most failures.
